Stay inside the walls.
Three private pool villas and a hotel on a lotus lake, in the neighbourhood The Times has just ranked the most beautiful place in Vietnam. We live here, we know every room, and we book you directly with the house.
Flower House, inside the walls“The walled neighbourhood, best explored by bicycle, is like a self-contained garden.”The Times, 30 August 2026, “The walled city, Hue”: first of the 11 most beautiful places in Vietnam
Through a Citadel gate, an ordinary morning
Ten kilometres of ramparts, and a garden inside
Begun in 1805 for the Nguyễn emperors and a UNESCO World Heritage site since 1993, the Citadel is ringed by ramparts and moats some ten kilometres round. Inside are lakes, garden houses, tree-lined avenues and the Imperial City, all within an easy bicycle ride. No building may rise higher than the King’s gate, so the sky stays open above the trees.
Choose the house that speaks to you
Each is its own world, five minutes’ walk from the others. If the one you love is full on your dates, we find you the next best fit.

Flower House
The grandest of the three: three levels, five bedrooms, and a vast ground floor that follows the principle of the nhà sàn, opening the house to the land.

Beasts House
The most traditional of the three: an authentic Huế timber house, brought from a nearby coastal village, restored, and set partly over its own pool.

Birds House
Empire–Indochina in spirit, built on symmetry: a plan of three concentric squares, a cool marble ground floor, and above it an ancient Huế wooden house.

Opens 1 November 2026Thiên Ý Lake
Fifteen rooms and suites on Hậu Vệ lake, every one facing the water. Stone bathtubs on the garden floor, balconies above, copper bathtubs in the suites under the roof.
See Thiên Ý Lake →Life at walking pace
You visit the Imperial City. You live in the walled city around it: its lanes, lakes and cafés, at walking pace or by bicycle.
Lotus on the moat
The moat along the ramparts and the Citadel’s lakes fill with lotus, with café tables at the water’s edge, a few minutes from the houses.
Salt coffee on low stools
Huế invented cà phê muối. Drink it in our street, far from the tour groups, or with a mango sinh tố facing the Imperial City’s side gates.
Garden houses & old ministries
Walk the quarter of the old Six Ministries and the imperial archive on Học Hải lake, past the garden houses where the court’s families lived.

Children are expected, not tolerated
A children’s pool area at the Flower House, a ship’s cabin with bunk beds at the Beasts House, and inflatables for the pools on request. One young child may share each existing bed.

We only propose houses we know room by room
Hue Within is the Huế agency of Lê Thị Minh Thu, a hospitality veteran and co-founder of Thiên Ý. We do one thing: heritage stays inside the walls, in houses where the architecture, the art and the service keep the spirit of imperial Huế.
Every stay we propose is provided and looked after by the Thiên Ý team, and you book directly with the house.
- A Quản Gia, the household steward of old Huế, for each villa.
- Private dinners in your villa by Chef Lê Vũ, from Huế.
- Three nights or more: an evening of court music by the bridge.
When would you like to come?
If your first choice is full on your dates, we show you the houses that fit.
